Hours of work

Hours of work includes information on non-contact time; class size; timetabling; the meaning of endeavour and consultation; and duties when your school is not open for instruction.    Most recently added have been information and guidance regarding changes to the Employment Relations Act to allow rest, meal and breastfeeding breaks.  Also added is a document on local proposals for changes to the school day.

You have a legal right to request flexible working hours for any reason and at any time under Part 6AA of the Employment Relations Act 2000. The principal must consider this request in good faith and can only refuseitfor one of the reasons listed in the Act.

(August 2014)    PPTA position in relation to advice presented by the School Trustees Association in its May 2014 STA News.    

The item relates to the application of Clause 5. 1a.1(d) of the STCA.

The purpose of the clauses are to guarantee a minimum amount of time during the timetabled school week for individual teachers to undertake the types of duties identified in 5.1.1(a) to (c) or the duties for which they receive permanent units.
