| Description | These guidelines provide advice to employers appointing a teacher to the Specialist Teacher (ST) role. A notification and time allowance application form is attached. The establishment of the ST role in area schools was part of the 2007 Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement settlement and is intended to provide professional learning support for teachers in area schools. In addition, the role allows for the development of a different career opportunity to retain teachers in the classroom through the provision of an alternative career path to the more traditional management one. |
