Seasons greetings and best wishes to teachers

Pohutukawa flowersNew Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association / Te Wehengarua (PPTA) President Robin Duff thanks teachers for their support and wishes them all the best for the festive season and new year.

Kia ora and Seasons Greetings to You All!

For many of us it has been a hard year! Whilst the election period has brought its own challenges for the future, a range of tragic events throughout the country over the last eighteen months has stressed and distressed many. Our thoughts are with all those who have suffered loss and hardship, whether they be in the Pike River explosions, the Christchurch earthquakes, the Rena fiasco or any other disastrous event of the year!

Thanks for contributing to our collegial strength as an association and for giving support for colleagues under great stress. As ever we soldier on for our students and our colleagues with, often, very little acknowledgement or support from all the agencies that are supposed to be there to support us.

On the positive side we have the holidays and festive season to refresh us and to recharge our batteries and to spend some quality time for ourselves and with our family and whanau. We can enjoy what we have and take time to remember the incredible amount of good we do encouraging, up-skilling and supporting our young people.

Rest and relax. It appears that 2012 could be as demanding as 2011.

Warm regards to you all and have an excellent break.

May the best be with you over the coming years!

Robin
