The New Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association / Te Wehengarua (PPTA) supports 26 weeks paid parental leave.
PPTA president Angela Roberts said if the government was serious about raising student achievement then extending paid parental leave should be a no-brainer.
“The international evidence that time spent early on in a child’s life has a positive educational impact is overwhelming,” she said.
