PPTA organises a range of conferences that bring together teachers to share their expertise and to consider new ideas. Many of these conferences also involve researchers, tertiary educators, parents, students, policy-makers and the wider community. PPTA holds an annual Māori teacher conference in July. There are occasional conferences for Pasifika, for women, and on professional issues.

PPTA Annual Conference 2010 will be held 28-30 September in Wellington
2011 Annual Conference will be held in Wellington beginning on Tuesday 18 October and concluding on Thursday 20 October.
