(April 2010) Study Awards are one of the professional learning provisions available to teachersthrough the Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement (ASTCA).Each year there are seven (two of which are for pursuing studies in te reo Māori or Māori immersion learning) full-time teacher equivalent (FTTE) study leave positions available to teachers, in state or state integrated schools, who are covered by this agreement. The award provides time for part-time or full-time study in agreededucational priority areas.The recipient's school receives relief funding, in accordance with the ASTCA, while the recipient is on leave.

(April 2010)  Study Award are one of the professional learning provisions available to teachers through the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (STCA).Each year there are 75 full-time teacher equivalent (FTTE) study leave positions available to secondary teachers, in state or state integrated schools, who are covered by this agreement. The award provides time for part-time or full-time study in agreed educational priority areas.The recipient's school receives relief funding in accordance with the STCA while the recipient is on leave.A Study Award is to provide time away from teaching to enable you to:  · complete a qualification or improve an existing qualification  · undertake study to obtain qualifications in a new or different curriculum or subject area  · undertake research or other study of relevance and value to secondary education· obtain practical knowledge and skill related experience in your subject area
(April 2010) Study Support Grant are one of the professional learning provisions available to teachers through the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (STCA). Each year there are 100 Study Support Grant available to teachers, in state or state integrated schools, covered by this agreement. Each recipient of the Study Support Grant is entitled to a time allowance of 0.16 FTTE (equivalent to four hours per week), and reimbursement of up to $500 towards their course fees, paid up on successful completion of their course. The time allowance is provided to each recipient’s school as additional staffing entitlement.
(April 2010) Sabbatical Leave is available to secondary teachers through the Secondary Teachers’Collective Agreement (STCA).Each year there are 40 paid positions, each of one term based on ten weeks duration, available to teachers in state or state integrated secondary schools, covered by this agreement.The recipient's school receives relief funding in accordance with the STCA while the recipient is on leave.
