Art History (2009) Art history curriculum development resources. These resources should be viewed as ‘work-in- progress’, not as finished units to download and use. They demonstrate a range of ways of thinking about how you might build the ‘front end’ of the NZ Curriculum (the Vision, Principles, Values, Key Competencies, Effective Pedagogies and Learning Area Statements) into your existing units of work, by re-focusing how you teach rather than changing what you teach. (May 2009) (Curriculum Level 8) Modern American Art is one of the most popular areas of study in Art History at Year 13. The internally assessed Achievement Standard 90492 is focussed upon in the following unit as understanding the use of media and processes is one of the key skills required. This resource does not include the currently used unit, which was a sample NCEA assessment task from TKI. Instead, we are presenting a revised unit, shifting the emphasis to the teaching and learning activities. We suggest what kind of preparatory activities could be used to develop students’ knowledge and skills to enable them to succeed in the internally assessed achievement standard 3.3, rather than one where assessment is in the driving seat.Authors: Sally Waanders, Robyn Peers, Barbara Ormond
