| Description | (May 2009) This is a good entry level project to Senior Graphics courses because:It models how Graphics is taught and practised in New Zealand. It includes the use and reinforcement of the design process including: Investigation, Concept generation, Concept development, presentation, ongoing and final evaluations as outlined in Graphics Education Guidelines for Years 9 – 13. This unit also incorporates the use of instruments, the tools of the subject, and skills such as design sketching in 2D and 3D. It practices the use of the design principles of Function and Aesthetics and the derived elements such as user friendliness, proportion etc. The unit relates to the students existing recognition and understandings of an accessible product and its social, ergonomic, functional and aesthetic factors. There are opportunities for the Key Competencies of Thinking, Managing self, Relating to others and Using language, symbols and texts to be integrated and practised.
