“We’re creeping dangerously into territory where public education is seen as charity and not the right of every student,” says junior vice president Doug Clark.
“Our latest book for the prime minister is 'Nicholas Nickleby' by Charles Dickens, it illustrates the danger in competition between schools.”
“We don’t have the same level of violence in New Zealand schools as in this novel, but children are exploited in a different way in the countries that have adopted charter schools; like through excessive marketing and branding,” says Clark.
