New Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association / Te Wehengarua (PPTA) advice to Resource teachers: learning and behaviour (RTLB) on the RTLB service 'transformation' process.
Variation to RTLB conditions of employment for reorganisation process
RTLB have ratified variations to the Area School Teachers' Collective Agreement (ASTCA) and Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement (STCA). These conditions of employment variations are specific to the 2011 reorganisation/transformation of the RTLB service.
STCA Variation 4 October 2011 - RTLB transformation
ASTCA Variation 19 October 2011 - RTLB transformation
Decision regarding continuing RTLB employment
PPTA recommends that affected RTLB view the variation that applies to their collective agreement very carefully when making their decision whether or not to take up new positions with a new lead school or to access the surplus staffing options they are entitled to.
RTLB must notify both old and new employing schools of their decision no later than Monday, 21 November.
In spite of extreme delays by the MoE in announcing the new lead schools, and in sending affected RTLB notices of disestablishment and letters of offer, the final date for RTLB to notify both old and new employing schools as to their decision is Monday, 21 November.
It is crucial they meet this deadline to ensure they either secure their new position or access the surplus staffing options.
RTLB members are advised to seek assistance from their local field officer both about advice about surplus staffing options and about negotiating any extra provisions they currently enjoy outside of their collective agreement.
