Affirming diversity of sexualities and gender identities in the school community

E-mail

The New Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association / Te Wehengarua (PPTA) has produced a set of guidelines for Boards of Trustees and principals titled 'Affirming diversity of sexualities in the school community'. These dcouments are also known as the Safe schools guidelines

Schools are institutions where diversity is the norm, among the staff, the students, and the community served by the school.  This diversity includes diversity of sexualities and gender identities.  Every Board and staff must ensure that their school not only recognises these forms of diversity but affirms them so that everyone involved with the school feels welcome and valued.
