(13 June 2011) With no new funding available for TVNZ 7, the government believes it is better to preserve funding for NZ On Air rather than redirect funding to maintain TVNZ 7.As the funding for TVNZ 7 will expire in 2012, TVNZ has decided that the channel will cease to broadcast past June 2012. Some of the programmes currently broadcast on TVNZ 7 may continue to be funded through NZ On Air in the future. Where programmes currently broadcast on TVNZ 7 continue to receive NZ On Air funding, schools and students will be able to access the material, but on different channels.
