PPTA Te Wehengarua Te Tiriti o Waitangi Komiti 2026
Toitu te Tiriti
Te Tiriti o Waitangi Komiti is a collective of passionate Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake members committed to affirming and advancing Te Tiriti o Waitangi at every level of the organisation. Members are grounded in their lived experiences, cultural capacity and are best placed to serve, influence and support the direction of policy and decision making through advocacy and representation. Aspiring towards the authentic development of Te Tiriti honouring models and frameworks, our Komiti is dedicated to building the cultural capability of our members in practical and honouring ways, upholding our obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Harnessing the collective power of ‘Kotahitanga’ - Toitu te Tiriti!
Why
This Komiti exists because upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi requires deliberate, informed, and collective leadership from those grounded in lived experience, cultural knowledge, and a deep commitment to equity. It operates to ensure that Te Tiriti is not treated as an abstract principle, but is actively affirmed and embedded in the policies, practices, and decision-making of the organisation. By drawing on the strength and insight of Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake members, the Komiti provides the advocacy, guidance, and accountability needed to influence meaningful change. It also exists to grow the cultural capability of members, supporting the development of authentic Te Tiriti-honouring models and frameworks so that the organisation can meet its obligations in ways that are practical, enduring, and centred on Māori success.
