Personal information

My name is Lisa Hargreaves and I born and raised in Hastings, I am deeply anchored in Hawke’s Bay alongside my adult children, Adam and Kate, who live with me. We are a home of creators, my sone is and artisit and my daughter and I love to sew for a local charity. My local roots carry a strong legacy of unionism through my father Dennis (Hastings) and grandfather Frank (Nuhaka/Wairoa)—a tradition my daughter now continues as a PSA delegate. We share our home with our cats Fez and Nermal and our bunny Woolley.

Professional information

I hold a BBS in Accountancy (EIT), Grad. Dip. Tchg. Sec. (Massey), Masters in Professional Practice,  Te Tohu Paerua mō Te Aka Whakaaroaro (EIT), and am completing a micro-credential  BSLA in Structured Literacy (UOC). My background includes roles in accountancy, governance / trustee , community volunteering,  PTE tutoring, and a stint as a teacher aide. I have taught at Havelock North High School for 17 years, transitioning from part-time maths teacher to Specialist Teacher for ORS students.

Association information

I have been a PPTA member since 2005 with all three Mahi Tika courses under my belt. I have served as Branch Secretary, Chair, Co-Chair, and 7 years as Regional Treasurer. I currently am on our branches committee where people are free to come and ask me for information and support. I previously served as the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Executive Member (stepping down to care for my elderly parents). I was one of the strong wahine that were complainants in the landmark Part-Time Teachers Non-Contact case, and I was honoured to receive the inaugural Melanie Webber Award (2025) for exceptional activism.

Personal statement

I am standing for Executive to ensure national governance directly continues to find ways to strengthen our branches, those working at the coalface. I believe that some  branches are "burnt-out" and these are often called the ‘cold’ branches. These members are struggling with high workloads and fighting  to maintain their collective entitlements. Our members need support to have difficult conversations at work, on top of their work to support their students.  We are a collective and through our collectivism we can support each other across our local schools. My accounting and educational governance experience provide sharp financial oversight. I am known for reading every document thoroughly and ask the critical questions others may avoid as we need transparency and responsible informed decision-making. I will offer unapologetic member advocacy for all members that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Mum to a beautiful neurodiverse 12 year old. Dungeons & Dragons player. Avid unionist and LGBTQIA+ advocate.

Professional information

BSc (zoology) 2011, Post Grad Dip (Secondary) Teaching 2014, Grad Dip Educational Psychology due to complete 2027.

Currently Science/Bio teacher at Havelock North High School (10 years). I run the dungeons & dragons club with over 50 students.

Association information

Member since 2015.

Regional Roles: rainbow co-ordinator (10 years), treasurer (2 years).

National Roles: Executive Hawkes Bay/East Coast (5 years), Rainbow Taskforce (4 years) Completed Mahi Tika 1-3.

Personal statement

It has been an honour and a privilege to be the executive member for Te Matau-a-Mäui/Hawkes Bay and Te Tairäwhiti/East Coast for the last five years and I would love to continue in that role next year.

As the PPTA representative at Unions HB, I was part of the planning for the pay equity day of action and organised and built the pay equity day of action float for the Hastings Blossom Parade in September 2025. My work with Unions HB has allowed me to connect with and build relationships with other unions which has meant that both NZEI and NZPFU came to our PPTA strikes to support us in the last negotiation round. I have helped organise multiple strike actions, including the mega strike, the pay equity strike, as well as representing PPTA to support the firefighters (NZPFU) and nurses (NZNO) strikes.

I am passionate about doing the mahi and always go above and beyond to support my fellow unionists and kaiako. My work as executive has allowed me to passionately represent and advocate for the members of these two beautiful regions at the top table through hardships, particularly during cyclone Gabrielle, during negotiations and strikes, at conferences, and the hard work that our members face on a daily basis.

I believe strongly in the power of collective action and the importance of having a strong, visible and connected union presence in our regions. I want to continue to ensure that the voices of our members are heard, respected and represented at the national level. I will continue to bring energy, commitment and a willingness to do the mahi, while strengthening our relationships with our members, branches and fellow unions.

I am proud of what we have achieved together over the past five years, but there is still mahi to be done. I would be honoured to have the opportunity to continue representing our regions, supporting our members and standing alongside our fellow unionists for a strong, fair and collective future.
