Further call for nominations for PPTA's Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake 2026-2027

This is a further call for positions on PPTA Te Wehengarua's Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake, which provides advice to the Executive on matters affecting kaiako and ākonga Māori in secondary and area schools. 

The period covered is the year beginning 1 February 2026 and ending 31 January 2027.

Those eligible for the committee are PPTA members on the PPTA Māori roll who teach in the geographical rohe applicable.  

The rohe that are still vacant are: 

  • Tāmaki Makaurau (1 vacancy), 
  • Taranaki, Tai Rāwhiti, Whanganui, Awakairangi / Wairarapa, Te Tauihu o te Waka o Māui, Ōtepoti/Murihiku (1 vacancy)

 Nominations will close on Wednesday19 November 2025 at 5.00pm.

Members on the Māori electoral roll are hereby notified that, in accordance with the Rule 75(ii) of the Constitution, nominations are invited for membership of Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake for the year 2026-2027.  Any full member on PPTA’s Māori electoral roll is eligible for nomination provided that they are employed within the iwi geographical area for which they are nominated. 

Te Huarahi Māori Motuhake (THMM) is a group that works alongside the PPTA Executive to formulate policy that concerns Māori kaiako and ākonga. They also organise the annual Māori Teachers’ conference. Members of THMM gain valuable PLD by attending PPTA conferences and sitting on Executive committees at no cost.
