PPTA Submissions 2025
May
- The Relationship and Sexuality Educatoin (RSE) Framework.- We believe that all rangatahi deserve a “high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum”, and it should be one that values inclusion. Relationships and sexuality education must be inclusive of the unique experiences of all of our ākonga, including our trans and non-binary young people.
- Consultation on revised teacher standards: "PPTA Te Wehengarua gave extensive feedback on the proposed standards, overall assessment, the role of focus areas, use of domains, and implementing the standards."
- Submission on ermination of employment by agreement: "PPTA Te Wehengarua opposes the Employment Relations (Termination of Employment by Agreement) Amendment Bill (“the Bill”) in its entirety."
March
- Teaching Council Fees increase: "PPTA member feedback is that the registration fee is already expensive, particularly for part-time, and newer teachers, still with student loans. These members do not want to see a fee increase."
- Resource Teachers of Māori:"PPTA Te Wehengarua urges the Ministry of Education to withdraw the proposal to discontinue funding for Resource Teachers: Māori."
February
- Crimes Legislation (Stalking and Harassment) Bill - The Post Primary Teachers’ Association Te Wehengarua welcomes the introduction of stalking and harassment to the Crimes Legislation. Because it has not previously been a criminal offense there is a lack of specific statistics about the frequency and demographics of stalking in New Zealand, but a relevant comparator is Australia.
