Subject Association Grants pre-approval form

The Pūtea Whakawhanake Pouako (PPTA Learning and Development Centre) will reimburse post-primary teachers with up to $700 for one Subject Association conference per calendar year until June 30 2023.

Please note that this grant only covers events run by Subject Associations: this is to support mahi that is designed by teachers, for teachers. This PLD opportunity was negotiated by members in the last round of bargaining and is covered by our Memorandum of Agreement with the Ministry of Education. Because this MoA expires on June 30 2023, we are unable until further notice to preapprove applications for events after this date. Unfortunately, for now this excludes all events held within the July holidays.

We recommend joining an association in your subject area so you can keep up to date with networking events, online resources and conferences. Teacher Development Aotearoa (TDA) has a useful directory of Subject Associations and other Networks of Expertise (NEX) on their website

Apply for preapproval

Before applying for a grant, you will need to be preapproved, so we can confirm eligibility requirements. You may apply for preapproval at any time. Once approved, you will be able to claim reimbursement after your conference or course has concluded. Please see the FAQs for more information.

Please make sure to check your junk/spam filters for an update from us within the next three weeks, particularly if using a school email address

Please note until further notice we can only accept applications for events prior to June 30 2023, as this is when the Memorandum of Agreement governing this funding expires

If your event is not run by a Subject Association, or if it is not held prior to June 30 2023, it won’t be eligible for this grant

– In this case we recommend contacting your Branch Chair, who will be best placed to advise regarding the availability of funding from your kura or PPTA branch.
