PPTA Member Guide for Strike Action on 23 October | Standing for Public Education
Strike day actions and events are organised by local, cross-union groups. At the bottom of this page you will find a list of events that are scheduled across the country. We encourage our members to get along to events and show that they are Standing for Public Education!

Your region/area might be organising PPTA-specific actions that may not appear on this page. If this is the case, you will be informed by your Branch Chair. If you are unsure, please contact your Field Officer.
If you are unable to attend an in-person event, there are still plenty of ways you can support the strike. Here are some actions you can take in your home and communities:
- We have a Letter Writing tool on our campaign website that will help you craft a letter to the Minister for Education, Hon. Erica Stanford, to share why you are striking. Find it here: ppta.org.nz/campaigns/write-to-minister-stanford

- An amazing tool has been created by For Purpose to help members of the community show their message of support for striking workers on social media. Check it out here: forpurpose.nz/standing-with

- Share our "Why are secondary teachers striking" public letter with friends and family to talk about what you are fighting for by taking strike action.

- We’ve created a social media online campaigning guide for members. Head over to our Members Facebook Page to find it. Don’t have Facebook? DM us on Insta @nzppta and we’ll share it with you.

You’ll find more resources like signs, posters, and social media tiles on our campaign website.
Strike Day Events

 - If your school is formally closing for instruction due to the red weather warning your branch chair can contact the Field Officer.
