Field Officer: Fixed-term Vacancy for Term Two 2019

The Association is seeking a field officer to help out in our Christchurch office for school term two 2019.

This is a fixed-term vacancy to provide additional support to PPTA members and branches following the events of 15 March.

Expressions of interest from members, unionists and those working in employment relations should be received by Thursday 18 April. Ideally, the Association would like the candidate to start no later than the first day of term two being 29 April.  

This is opportunity to try your hand at working as a PPTA field officer. We are interested in speaking to candidates with organising experience and those with skills in: mentoring, dispute resolution, advocacy, unions and adult education.  New Zealand secondary teaching experience would be an advantage.

Association management can assist PPTA members applying for the position with a corresponding application to be on unpaid leave or secondment from their board in term two.

A commitment to union goals and to a high quality public secondary education service is essential.

Middle Leadership Advisory Committee – call for nominations in Area 4: Counties-Manukau and Hauraki Coromandel

Nominations are called for a positions on PPTA’s Middle Leadership Advisory Committee in Area 4 - Counties-Manukau and Hauraki Coromandel.

The Committee provides advice to the executive on matters affecting those in middle leadership positions in secondary and area schools. Middle leadership refers to curriculum leadership or pastoral care leadership: heads of department, deans, teachers-in-charge and guidance leaders.
In your nomination please state what units you have, and what your responsibilities are in terms of leadership of others. We will use this information to structure a balanced committee.

The committee meets two times a year in Wellington.  The term of office is the two years 2019 and 2020.

Secondary Principals’ Council 2019-20 – call for nominations for a representative of women principals

Nominations are invited from principals who are members of the association for a representative of women principals on the Secondary Principals’ Council.

The term of office is the two years 2019 and 2020.

The nomination must be supported by a proposer and seconder who are principal members.
