Overpayments

Are you being asked to repay overpayments?

PPTA field officers advise you to contact them if you are in any doubt about having to repay an alleged overpayment.

Before making any payment the accuracy of the alleged overpayment sum must be checked.

You should:

• Request a comprehensive breakdown of where the alleged overpayment has occurred.
• Contact your Field Officer
  
  

They also advise that if you've agreed to repay a genuine payroll debt then you have every right to negotiate with the unit the amount of each repayment. If you believe that the overpayment is correct but you have meaningfully changed your financial position (taken on a mortgage/loan, made significant purchases etc) in good faith believing you were entitled to the money, please provide details of this to your field officer.
