Teacher Bonding Scheme
A new Teacher Bonding Scheme was introduced at the end of 2025 by the Ministry of Education to encourage teachers to teach in certain Priority Staffing Schools. The way this scheme works is as follows: Schools that meet certain priority staffing criteria can apply for one of 185 places. If successful, they can advertise for a Teacher Bonding Scheme teaching position where the successful applicant will receive the Teacher Bonding Scheme Payments as an incentive to taking on (and remaining) in the position:.

Teachers of any experience level can apply for a Teacher Bonding Scheme position. The Teacher Bonding Scheme replaces two somewhat similar programmes: The Voluntary Bonding Scheme and the BeTTER Jobs Programme. Both of these programmes are now closed for new applicants (although teachers already in these programmes will continue to receive the applicable payments subject to them meeting the former eligibility criteria).
