The Women’s Committee is the advisory body for the PPTA’s work to reduce gender inequities faced by teachers and students. It sets the strategic direction for the women’s activities and provides support for our regional and branch structures.
Currently the Women’s Committee’s priorities are:
1. The restoration of a fair and effective Pay Equity system, and all work that seeks to reduce the gender pay gap;
2. Support Māori women in school leadership, including a mentoring programme for wāhine Māori;
3. The Annual Women’s Committee webinar series which seeks to address issues of particular relevance to women such as menopause and financial confidence.
We welcome applications from all members identify as women, inclusive of cis- and trans- women, as well as gender diverse and non-binary people.
Applicants are selected by the President and General-Secretary, and are appointed for two years.
