TEACH – Teachers’ Environmental Action Conference Hui, 2024

The 2024 Teachers’ Environmental Action Conference/Hui is an opportunity for climate educators from across the education sector to hear from experts in the field and create resources for use in Aotearoa NZ and across the Pacific.

TEACH Hui dates: 27 April 2024 – 28 April 2024

The inaugural Teachers’ Environmental Action Conference/Hui (TEACH) will be hosted by PPTA Te Wehengarua on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April, 2024. 

The conference will be held at the Brentwood Hotel, Kilbirnie, Wellington. 

Expressions of interest in attending the limited attendance event are now open. Attendees will be notified by email of their place, with a waiting list available if demand is higher than available spaces. 

Travel

We are able to reimburse up to $200 for those needing travel to Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington for TEACH. Reimbursement will be made on presentation of receipts (airline invoices/petrol etc).  

Please indicate on the registration form whether you will need reimbursement for travel. 

Accommodation 

Accommodation at the Brentwood will be covered for those who are not based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington.  

Please indicate on the registration form whether accommodation will be required. 

Programme 

While the programme is yet to be confirmed it is anticipated that the day will start with a mihi whakatau at 9.45am on Saturday and finish on Sunday after lunch.   

Saturday will include presentations from keynote speakers, climate leaders and education experts who will share about emerging/next practice in climate education.  
Sunday will involve workshops, where attendees will work individually or collectively to create climate education resources.  

These resources will be collated and made available for all schools, kura and Early Childhood providers in Aotearoa, and will later be translated and shared with our colleagues across the Pacific. 

Meals 

All meals are provided at the hotel for the duration of the conference.  When completing your online registration, you have the choice to opt out of dinner on either Saturday night or Sunday lunch.
